One of the perks about being back in Wyoming.... being back by family! And there was no better way to kick that off than spending a weekend with the Reimer's in Jackson Lake. What an absolute treat!!! Dessa got us a cabin and for the weekend right by their family cabin. So, we got to spend lots of family time together, we got to explore a part of Wyoming neither Joe nor I had ever been to before, we got to fish (this was definitely Joe's favorite part), we got to enjoy the most amazing views, we did a little bit of hiking, boat riding, wildlife watching, bubble blowing, and fishing. Also, Grace would be so proud... I even looked at bird through binoculars!
For the first time in two months since all the chaos moving, we got to just simply relax! It was glorious!
I absolutely love seeing Quincey with my sisters and their kids. So, fun for her to be around cousins after two years in New Mexico. She even finally started to remember their names instead of calling them "that one."
Joe and Chris went out fishing with the boys one day and Joe was thrilled that he caught a trout. Chris had said that there are not many trout to catch at Jackson Lake and Joe was determined. He was as happy as a peacock when he came back to the dock and showed me the trout he had gotten.
But it wasn't until the next day that Joe and Chris really hit the jackpot. They decided to go out fishing at 5am. I told Joe that there was no fish worth a 5am wakeup call but, he was determined to get out there when the fishing was the best. So, off they went. Dessa and I meandered around with the kids for the morning but then started getting texts that they had caught a big one. Dessa and the kids had to take off but I, of course, had to stay back to wait for Joe to get done fishing before we could head for home. They had asked me to try to track down a battery for their fish scale so they could weigh it when they got to shore. I asked the boat dock, but they didn't have one, so I drove from lodge to lodge looking for one with no luck. By the time I got back, Chris and Joe were just getting back to the dock and boy, did they have a big one! The biggest fish I had ever seen in person! It ended up being 17 pounds. And, I must admit, a 5am wakeup call would be worth it for that fish!
We tried to get Quincey to lay down next to it for size comparison, but she was tired and grumpy and NOT having it!
What a great time but over way too quickly!
